Toothless?.........Nurse pass the gas for the January Transfer Dentist!

My Arsenal mate, Ray Winstone (check out his pic on my twitter page) was not exactly a happy man with last nights result. In fact via text message this Gooner of long standing, had this to say about last nights performance by Arsenal.

"What a toothless, pathetic performance, lets hope there is action in the transfer market next month. The Goal (Thanks to Benayoun) was the first bit of quality in the match so far!" I could go on but fear for our readers of a nervous disposition.

Well, I have to agree that the tactics and performance were way off the mark, considering how well our 2nd string performed against Shiteh in the Carling Cup. Arshavin was yet again his usual self in front of goal, Fabianski had a performance in the first twenty minutes or so could be best described as forgetful, at worse a complete shocker, thank god for the presence of mind of Djourou in the 2nd minute, to clear and spare some blushes. Then TV5 slices open Fabianski's knee and he is stretchered off! Now he has been quoted in the press he wants the number1 goalie spot back or he wants out in January. I do not think the bids for him will be rolling in given this display.

So the call to arms goes to Vito Mannone. To me this name brings to mind a cool hard hit man you may see in a X-Box, PS3 type game. Relied upon to get a job done with no fuss! He did come out to head away but one thing I always thought keepers were trained in, use of your hands! He may of been unaware of his position in the box, it will still make comedy Christmas clips on sports programmes of what not to do when in goal....Cue Soccer AM!

Overall it was a diminished performance which also saw the Greeks make it 3-1 in the last minute. We qualified, we are top of the group but it shows the holes we have in our squad strength, Loosing Santos is another blow and the Squid (Squillaci) as I call him looks just that, wet and floppy under pressure, so who is going to step in?

Like pulling any teeth, think of Tevez as a particularly nasty impacted wisdom tooth, some major work needs to take place in the transfer window. I am not talking a quick floss and polish here but some rotten stuff needs to go and replacement work to be done. Arsene admitted we were weak in defence and attack after yesterday. Really? So I guess it is time he booked that long awaited appointment with the January Transfer Dentist he has been avoiding, and give us back some bite! We cannot keep relying on our first team dentures to see us through the season.

One final thing, the FBI are investigating FIFA! Will we find out anything or will this be another version of Sapp Bloater appearing in the remake of the film "Catch me if you can!" Lets watch this space.

Well off for some soft biscuits and luke warm tea. My teeth are killing me. Nurse the gas!
Laters,
The Dog
