Happy Halloween and looking forward to Marseille tomorrow with Mrs Fabregas

Well to start off, what a weekend.. Halloween went full swing for me, I partied hard and had lots of fun! Plus what a result 5-3! RVP is on fire! Some papers are saying to be scared of him, and I think they should be. He's scored 28 times in 29 games, with 9 goals in the past 5 games and is certain he will score every match he plays because his confidence is so high. Well I say bring on Marseille, I hope their afraid of him. The only thing that would ruin his season would be an injury, which I pray every night to the football god that he won't get one.

So Marseille at home tomorrow, well we've already managed to win away 1-0 with Aaron Ramsey's late injury-time winner. We are at the top of the group table, only by one point though so it is vital in my eyes that we win this game even though Olympiacos only have 3 points, but still I'd like to finish top and I'm sure Wenger would too!

The squad are feeling amazing after the incredible result at Chelsea so I'm sure they will be going into the game with high spirits, I hope this won't cloud their judgement and cost us the match. Didier Deschamps wants to put an end to RVP's stunning performance when his side comes to the Emirates and knows his players must be on top form to stop him, well lets hope they don't!

All in all I'm looking forward to tomorrow, I think we can do it. No actually I know we can do it! Lets show them how it's done.

RVP is the top third scorer in Europe scoring 1 goal every 94.02 minutes per game, which leaves him 58 seconds behind Messi and Fabregas record of games played and goals scored of 107 minutes. RVP shows he can score in league cup and champions league, so that's why we currently have the best European striker today.

Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea eat our dust!!

Love
Mrs Fabregas

P.S Cancer charity that The Dog had previously had, please follow on twitter @bazafc thank you

Here's the boring bit (which I seem to always get stuck with, the stats) The Dog insisted...

The pressure of having a go because we are a one man team, that our stats are now showing that our team are beginning to pull together and we will be scoring goals from all areas from our team. We look forward to our BFG scoring his first goal!

Also me and the Dog shall be doing a live blog for tomorrows game, all comments are welcome. Please get ahold of @BigCsizzla @GFS_Arsenal @dognash1 @surfergirl on Twitter, and look out for our announcement of our shirt winner with a photo to follow.

Speak to you all tomorrow

What a Saturday

Their is nothing like sitting with your friends to watch your beloved, with a beer in hand. What happened on Saturday was both tremendous and heart attack material but oh the joy at the end!!

First a big thank you to Majid. A big Manc but had promised to wear an Arsenal shirt for the game to cheer us on. If your lucky to know him or if you ever get to meet him he is a true gentleman and a big footie fan but hates Chealski!!
Here is the man with Mrs Fabregas

Also he is Another GFS supporter Dave or as we now know him, the Stone in his new Arsenal top deep in thought over the game!!!

Even Highbury man was there!

So it was a fab game but real heart attack stuff, as usual though we are very weak in defence, the sight of Szczesny rushing out to Cashley had me back in nightmare land and it was Lehman all over again. Thankfully it was a yellow but it could have been so much worse.

So for RVP it's 28 goals in 27 games but for us to get 5 when Chealski score three is some feet. Who would think that 3 goals at the Bridge would be a lose for them. Although our defence was poor what was Bosingwas on? A really bad day at the office. The ghost says...........

Skipper Robin van Persie score a hat-trick as Arsenal beat Chelsea 5-3 after twice coming from behind in a remarkable Premier league match at Stamford Bridge. It was Arsene’s 500th victory since becoming manager in 1996 and this was certainly a special one. It was Chelsea’s 1st home defeat of the season and Arsenal’s 1st away win as Premier league continues to dish out goals galore.
Well I enjoyed the game thoroughly, although it looked like it was going to rain goals against Arsenal, luckily our defending improve in the second half. Had my heart in my mouth in the last 5 minutes but Van Persie made sure of the win when we took the 2 goal lead. Now looking forward to next week’s fixture of Arsenal vs West Brom. Proud of you Gunners. Laters the Ghost

Its back to the Champions League Tuesday but you could see the confidence in Arsenal at the end of the game and the fact they spent so long out there after the final whistle. A game I will remember for a very long time. Thank you boys and as ever we go forwards again never backwards. Live blog with Mrs F and myself on Tuesday so join us via twitter. See you then.

Rolling...Rolling...Rolling!!!

So we beat Bolton on Tuesday and Stoke on the Sunday...
And here comes Chelsea...
Are we scared, I think not. The rumblings I hear from Arsenal supporters and even a few Chelsea supporters is, we just might do it!! I say, let's do it!!!

We have 7 wins out of 8 games, we're on a roll and you can see it in the team. Their confidence is up and there is a bounce in their steps. Arsene seems like a smile just might  break out on his face! The corners of his mouth anyway. Chu-Young Park and Arshavin seemed to have jelled and Fabianski wants to keep proving he's good enough for the first team, so go go go!!!

Bring on Chelsea I say! With what happened to the mighty Man U (fall over chuckling to myself...)(sorry), ANYTHING can happen!!

So COME ON YOU GUNNERS!!!! Do us proud!!

Surfergirl

P.S. Unfortunately I will miss the GFS_Arsenal family, get together, to watch this game, as I have to work...
Boo hiss!!  But have a great time guys, and drink a jagerbomb for me!!!

Eating is Cheating!!!!

As a dear friend (Tom Gent) tells me all the time...

So, will we eat snails? Or frogs legs, or even horse? On the football pitch, I hope so! Otherwise, yuck!!

So here we go again, what a game Saturday but where the hell has our defence gone?? Another situation where we worry about loosing a goal keeper in an important game? What is going on in our defensive coaching??? One man team? Nah, unless Santos and Wacott are RVP's other personalities! Arsene doesn't think so, and neither do I. He's a leader and OUR captain and is proving it over and over again!! Yes, we need the our BFG (Mertesacker) to stand up and be counted... Mr. Adams could we have some coaching please? Where have you gone? Ajaby..what???????????????

The Dog's sitting here and wants to put in his 2 cents.... Let's employ Keown, or Dixcon (wink wink nudge nudge!!). or George Graham?
Our attack is brilliant, but our defence needs work... Here come the stats... 8 years ago we had a defense that included Winterburn, Dixcon, Keown, Adams, Seamen, and others... So if we want to win then (yawn) GFS Family are quite happy to teach them defense skills, HOLD ONTO YOUR CROTCH!!!!

So Marseille, Marsaw, who cares, lets just kisk some Arse!!!!

Love ya, Gooners!

A Funny thing happened on the way.......

On Saturday I was travelling up on the central line to the game against Stoke when I suddenly felt very optimistic.
In fact I was so optimistic that I text a friend and my son that I felt Arsenal would win 3-0. ALRIGHT I know we let goals in so it was 3-1 in the end but actually it would seem that a lot of teams this season are defensively weak, it is not JUST Arsenal that are guilty of mistakes. Take the game in Manchester for instance that was the icing on my cake for sure, but there is still a long way to go in the season.

I really do feel that small steps are now being made in the right direction and you can see that the players are beginning to believe in themselves again and some confidence is slowly returning. Robin Van Persie is in his element being the main man and captain and it really suits him, you can see him growing in authority and confidence and it’s rubbing off on the team.

The team IS settling down the results are better, Arsene is not throwing water bottles yet. What more could we want? Well lots more actually and you know I think we may well get our wish.

A great result against Bolton in the Carling Cup last night and, with a changed team is some indication of Arsenal improving and with Chelsea away on Saturday that’s what we all want to see, so let’s all keep being optimistic and supporting regularly and loudly!!

P.S. if I have any more psychic moments I will let you all know :)

Quick blog and bugger off hackers!!!!!

Bad blog going around about you??????? So many Gooners, even Stephen Fry, getting this message on Twitter. What a pain and having to secure the blog each time to sort out. Please get this sorted twitter! If this is a Spud I will hunt you down and you will soooo pay!

Shirt competition on going please see how to enter and tonight? Arsenal v Bolton or Aldershot?????????

Well we know our place but whats the odds on tonight? 6_1 the Shots?

Full review on tomorrow and big GFS family meet for the 29th. By the way where is the FA ruling on VB from Chealski? So all ok to question a ref depends on you rich income?

So note from the Ghost.....
What a day of football, Man yoo loosing 6-1 was the most entertaining result, second most entertaining result was Chelsea loosing 1-0.....Arsenal was saved by Van Persie yet Gervinho bagged man of the match. You have to admit those 2 goals were gifted by Stoke's goal keeper, anyway a win is a win, but you can't help thinking that Van Persie is mister Arsenal at the moment ( No disrespect to the other players ). What will we do without RVP ? We need goals to come from other players as well, or we will have to sign some quality strikers come January. Well in the end we'f found our way again with the Gunners now sitting at 7 on the log, and i'm very proud of them. So Chelsea this week and they will be playing without Drogba, Bosingwa and Torres, we can beat them but it's going to be close I tell you, can't wait for the game Tho.

So Shirt for grabs. Get in touch and Bolton game? Another hopeful notch.
Laters.

A late update of sundays games from Mrs F

Hey guys sorry for the late update, got caught in a film and didn't realise the time so apologies again.

Yesterday, well two days ago now really.. What a day for football from a gooners point of view! Man Utd lose 6-1, Chelsea have two sendings off even after QPR have made the score 1-0 and Chelsea still couldn't manage to come back. So from how it's looking we might be able to finish 4th on the table, which at the beginning of the season it didn't look so probable. The only downside was the spuds winning 2-1 against Blackburn, oh well you can't have everything!

So RVP was our savior again, he comes to the rescue. Even though we did get an opener from Gervinho, with the help of Ramsey's nice chipped pass over the away backline. But lack of confidence from the team let us down again with a Peter Crouch equaliser on the 34 minute.

Wenger's decision to leave Van Persie out of the starting line up was put under scrutiny as time ticked by, but as a late substitute, RVP continued his remarkable run of form and added two late goals to make the win a comfortable one for the Arsenal.

On a final late note, we have some of our writers coming down to Brighton for the Chelsea game on saturday. I'm feeling pretty good about it, and I think it's a possibility that we could win it. Lets think positive and then the mighty gunners will prevail and have another win on our backs!

Goodnight and sleep tight :)

Love Mrs Fabregas

Any Given Sunday..........

Some of you will know the title above, some of you will know the film so you will understand why I use it today. First big apologies for the lack of the blog but tech issues abounded. But we are back!

So Stoke today and in keeping with the Rugby I really hope Ramsey comes through this match with pride and a goal!  It will be the first time he has faced them since his horrendous leg break but I hope this does not play on his mind today! I am sure there will be strains of "Swing low" from the Potters today but I hope we kick them back up North, not literately, and they take their long throws with them!

Funny though as Wenger is backing Pulis in the refs v tackles issue and say he agrees that refs should allow more. I agree too but lets make sure they are fair eh?

Theo also states today that fans should put the start of the season behind us as the players have, the season is re-ignited he says and team morale is the best it has ever been. I hope he is right as the Spuds and the Mancs still way heavy on my mind and scousers too.

I want to see a real team performance and hopefully with some passion and skill from Theo which has been really lacking of late. Also lets hope we see the Ox and Park making more of an impact.

So recent games for both teams look like this.

Arsenal LWLWLW 9PTS
Stoke WWDLDLW 10PTS

On paper it looks like Stoke have the edge but we are not playing on paper are we.

The Ghost wrote today.....

So Stoke history:

Founded in 1863, Stoke City have the distinction of being the oldest football club currently plying their trade in the English Premier League. Nicknamed The Potters in reference to Stoke’s famous potteries, they were a force to be reckoned with in Europe during the mid 1970s. Since their promotion to the Premier League, Stoke have developed a reputation for being tough to break down at home and they are credited with bringing the long-throw back in vogue, and since 2008 ( if I'm correct ) Arsenal and Stoke games have been rather hectic. Games played: 93   Arsenal won 49, lost 23 and drew  21.
So big game for the Gunners, Good luck we're always behind you !

We are all the way. No televised game today as we are being over ran by mancs and Chealski but enjoy if you are there today.

Finally to win and Arsenal shirt, can you tell us the name of the pub, instrumental in the forming of Arsenal?

Please DM your Answers to @GFS_Arsenal or email, gunningfromsussex@hotmail.co.uk and title the message Answer. The winner will be pulled from the hat and informed. Closing date is 1st November.

So today, forward never backwards and enjoy the game and lets hope the result!

Swings and roundabouts............

Our live blog went out last nite during the game and lots of followers! The Dog diligently sat and typed what was going on and some colorful antidotes!! Well done him... He expressed what I, for one, was feeling.

As for the rest of you? come on and let us know what ya think? Come on you know you want to!!

I thought the game was scrappy at times, fell apart at times, and had a good defence at times.  Yes, I said it and so did the commentators. They were the best team in our group, were!! Ha! and now we're top of the group.
So a couple of weeks ago, we couldn't even beat a pub team and now we've won 5 of the last 6...

Swings a roundabouts baby!!  And we're off and running!!! Not looking back-always forward!!  The team is, Arsene is, now it's up to us, as fans...........

Bring on Stoke!!!!!!!!!

20.09pm losing the ball to much but at least Santos defended well!

20,12pm RVP still on his own up front, Where is Theo??????

20.15pm Jenks having treament, nothing serious hoping, Walcott, lost you golden fleece?

20.20pm for a man on a yellow Song defending well but we do not look in control. Yet a another OM chance goes begging!

20.28pm RVP bored now as shooting well wide of the goal!

20.30pm Genk bus lost it's wheels, 4-0 Chelski!

20.32pm Santos booked and to be honest it was a very poor performance first half, We really need to dig in for the 2nd or we will be pinished. See you in 15 unless am tweeted!

21.16pm Booking for Djourou on a fifty fifty ball, why is the ref in green?

21.21pm We look fab outside the 18 yard box but so useless in it! Very dissapointing spell at the mo!

21.24pm boos all round, well not suprised V tit for tat midfield and defence garbage, no one looks like they want to break through!

21.31pm Game is really not going anywhere, hate to say we miss Fab but we do.!

21.33pm Great play from big G to RVP but we are still goaless. Fab build up play play from G into the box but RVP blocked, dam!

21.32pm YEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS Ramsey inside the box with a great shot. 1-0 to the Arsenal 1-0 to the Arsenal 1-0 to the Arsenal 1-0 to the Arsenal!

21.37pm Well thats it guys, a poor game but a classic 1-0 to the Arsenal scoreline, lots to learn? Hell yes. Midfield was poor, Theo, well there is always the Olympics 100m, and RVP cannot do this alone. If one thing is clear then it means January, needs a good input. Arshavin, where have you gone? Big G played well but overall not a great game. A win is a win however and we go forward again, never backwards. Cheers for the company guys and see you soon.

Arsenal Sunderland match report

Abit late but blame hotmail and my hangover.

Let's start with our captain. He's been getting alot of stick in media recently (no surprises there) about leadership and needing to give more. To lead by example. Anyone with the faintest idea of football could see he was out to prove them wrong. The first 20mins he was amazing. A goal in 29 seconds. Big mention to Tom and 5head for setting it up but it was an assured finish with his right foot. He was after everything and was unlucky not to pick up a couple more. He ran the show.
Yes. He only has 2 years on his contract and it smacks of na$ri and flamini but I think RVP has more class than that. And if you saw his celebration after the free-kick you can't be left with any doubt he loves this glorious club. The free-kick was sensational. It remind me of the carling cup goal against wigan last season at Highbury, which coincedently is the first match I attended with my brother whom I now share a season ticket.
It's just a shame Theo can't replicate the skill he possesses, he is a sprinter with not a footballing bone in his body. The amount of times Jenko made fantastic runs down the wing just to look up a think "Theo? Hello? Where are you?" and if Andrey can play like he did when he came on absolute gagging to impress i don't think his place is assured and too right.
With the emergence of The Ox I think he needs to step up or do one. £15mill in Jan? Yes please.
But anyway back to the match. We haven't turned a corner but 5(maybe 6) wins on the bounce at home is a good start, and if we can keep the little mistakes away; not mentioning any names *cough Cheser cough Jenko* the confidence will return and The Kings of London can roll back into town and feast on wine and women.
We have to mention Larsson's goal. It was probably better than RVPs but that's only because we trained him, yes I am biased, and if you don't like it do one.
Anyway I'm rambling now and i have a delicious looking plate of nandos calling my name so I'll call it a day.
But come on Gooners. Chin up.....were 10th.

Gooner Dan

Short but sweet

Hi guys,
well The big T commits to us until 2015, and the Mirror reports RVP waiting to stay depending on signings from January window. Also John Cross wants an I Pad as Arsene has one! Well great news that TV signs up for the long haul so lets hope this gets other players to do so and a good session in the Jan window.

Shall we become a league that nobody can join? Mmmmm hearing the strains of Abba music here, Money Money Money? If thats what they want then take a shotgun and kill the ELP now. I for one want to see some Heritage and passion for being an English league! If you hate the set up up, don't buy an English club and waste fans time with the crap you bring, god I fancy a roast chicken:)

Tomorrow we can be the best English team in Europe with a win, I for one hope that is the case.

Sorry for the short blog but if you have read my Tweets you will know why.

Big up Gooners and lets go forward, never backward!

2-1 and a message from the SA Ghost!

Hello fellow Gooners, well as I predicted this morning we got a 2-1 win. But bloody hell were our nerves taken to the max ,last 10 Min's then we looked like a premier team. A big up to|RVP and now a Big up to our SA ghost. I could write so much for today but we are getting a big write up tomorow. So enjoy and find out why we go as far as SA.
Laters The Dog

Ghost says.......

Hello my name is Louwrens, I'm a 16 year  form South Africa that has an exceptional love for Arsenal. I'm most probably the biggest Arsenal fan in South Africa (If not the world). When I saw the awesome red and white colours for the first time 2 years ago that's when my Love for the club began, since then my soccer knowledge and passion grew and grew . So this is the first time I write about Arsenal hopefully there will be much more to come.........So the talk of the International break started with how did Arsenal lose to Spurs ? I think we need to improve on our shooting some bad misses by Walcot and Ramsey and then the Gunners need to start defending better. German International per Mertesacker Needs to step up and show his talent, and lead the younger defenders, and also look a bit more alive Mate. Then Gervinho the guy has talent but why is he never passing in critical stages ? always trying to get the goal himself. The Gunners had the worst start in 50 years and that's due to Injuries and loosing some of our players. But I'm confident we can start winning, we have a few  fixtures ahead of us that we should win and if we do that will put us back into the top 6. Oh and we as supporters need to be patient we have a lot of new players and we need to give them time to gel and get confidence. So talk of this weekend is playing Sunderland, I think this could be the beginning of a new Season for the Gunners, So go out there and win big !

Monday update from the Ghost!

Well ill start off with saying what a game (I'll quote form the Dog's words ) I aged by 60 years, And then I lost about 10 L of water due to sweat and stress. Arsenal had a flying start with Robin Van Persi scoring the fastest ever Arsenal goal of 29 seconds. Sebastian Larsson made sure the teams go level into half time with a excellent free kick. With just under 20 minutes left substitute Andre Arshavin had a moment of brilliance which almost got the Gunners ahead with just under 20 minutes left, with 9 minutes left the flying Dutchman RVP had a excellent free kick that put the Gunners ahead again. Arsenal goal keeper Wozniak Szczesny had some hair raising moments but he made great saves. Alex song, Tomas Rosicky, youngster Carl Jenkinson, all played critical roles in one of Arsenal's better performances of the season. Next week we play Stoke and if we can win that match it might give us enough confidence to beat Chelsea the following week, Really proud of the Gunners. The Ghost

To Be, or not to be...........a Gooner.....

Morning everyone! I've followed and supported Arsenal since reading Nick Hornby's 'Fever Pitch'.  I found my self in this country with a small child and no family and realised I had always supported sports teams in San Diego (where I originate) and had been here for 3 years and hadn't got into any teams for any sport. So when I read Mr. Hornby's wonderful book about Arsenal and the Arsenal family, I thought, that's the place for me!! He was so right about everyone just getting to know each other and share happy games and sad. I started going to watch the games and met some friends here that are still good (Gooner) friends today.  I've met new ones along the way and sadly have lost some too...  Sound like seasons, and players, and trophies? Because it is.  Life and Arsenal throws you lots of curve balls, and ya gotta roll with them... It's not always pretty, and sometimes I'm pulling my hair out and asking those next to me "remind me why I support a football team..'! They usually answer because you LOVE Arsenal!  That's it...  I do, God help us sometimes, but there it is.  That's what makes true fans.  Not how many statistics you can spout out, or how many games you can go to, or selling your kids for season tickets... It's in your heart

So to be, or not to be, a Gooner?

No question for me, I'm in it till I die!!!!!

Mrs Fabregas and her Friday view!

AAAAARRRGGGG! I have just checked tickets for Pigeon Detectives at Concord 2 and they are sold out so my blog today is full of anger! Unless a kind person knows someone who knows someone who can sort me out then all will be calm at GFS! OR THE DOGNASH GETS IT FOR LAUGHING!

Right well, at my work place my boss is a fellow gooner that has made an appearance on here. You'd think that he'd be lovely enough to let me have the game off this Sunday, but you've guessed wrong he hasn't. So i shall be watching it behind the bar. Sad times for me, I am trying to sweet talk him into letting me have the game on Wednesday off Marseille vs Arsenal but we'll see.

Me and the dog we're going to start our very first live feed while the game was on to hear your views, but we will have to put it off till next time. So look out for it! NEWS JUST IN! The dog will be attending a family do so he cannot get out of it so will have to be content with MOTD, lame or what! Watch out for the forth coming monthly blogcast as the Dog has been working hard on this, for a change, and we will have guests to express their views. So get a weathered eye on the horizon. Before I forget check this.....

GFS SHIRTS COMING SOON

Well here are the stats for our game Sunday

Head-to-head
  • Arsenal have won just one of their last six meetings with Sunderland (W1, D4, L1).
  • Sunderland have not won a league match at Arsenal since a 2-1 win at Highbury in November 1983.
Arsenal
  • The Gunners have claimed seven points from their opening seven league games. It is their worse start since 1974-75, when they would also have had seven points at this stage had the three points for a win rule been in place.
  • Arsenal players have blocked 15 shots this season, fewer than any other Premier League side.
  • Arsene Wenger's side have scored 10 goals in their last five league games, but have lost three of those matches.
Sunderland
  • The Black Cats have taken six points from their first seven games, their worst start to a season since 2005-06 when they had just four points at the same stage and were eventually relegated with 15 points.
  • Sunderland scored once in their opening three league games, but have netted eight times in their last four matches.
  • Michael Turner is set to make his 50th appearance for Sunderland.
  • An ex player we must watch out for, Seb Larsson !!!!!!!

For those who made enquiries we look like this.

Arshavin admits, Liverpool want more, Tevez wants apology?

The interlull is nearly over and I for one cannot wait for the Premier to start again so we can forget the madness that is England. A three game ban for Rooney? Cannot argue as it was in a competition where the national team are always highlighted, thanks to FIFA and UEFA and you cannot get away with the kind of action Wayne took. Will his sponsors feel so kind come 2012?

Mr Arshavin admitted to day that his performance for Arsenal is poor and that Arsenal fans have a right to be angry. So since the 4-4 with the scouse what has he really done to show he has Arsenal at his heart as he has expressed, on the pitch no, in charity work for the Club yes. But what all Arsenal fans want from him his the dynamic play he showed in his first season with us, speed, talent and a touch of arrogance which makes a truly great player. I for one really hope the see that player back.

So Scousers want more money for their international connection as they are as big as Mancs, Barca and Madrid. A word to the wise to the communications director at Anfield. Italy tried, failed and teams finally busted for cheating to up the revenue. They now follow our present model we currently have for TV rights, Spain have gone down the same line but look at that league, two teams who dominate and the rest of the league never catching up. Both mancs and the Kings Road Ruskies have come out against it today and for once I hope they stick to their guns, we have to many clubs desperate for money and history traded for profit. Football going to hell in a hand cart? Lets wait and see.

As for Tevez, two words, Greedy Idiot. Sorry but enough said on that. He and his agent should know better.

Good news is the Boss, Mrs Fabregas is back tomorrow as we look to Sunday and lets hope we get a huge win. We will look at stats etc tomorrow and possible news for Nike GFS shirts. Meantime keep the faith Gooners and things could be worse. You could get a spuds season ticket for your Birthday!

No gain without pain!

There is no doubt about it that these last 6 years have been painful
for Arsenal and their supporters.
The move to the Emirates has cost the club in more ways than one. For
the club to progress the move had to happen.
Unfortunately not investing in the team and not wining anything is
sadly causing Arsenal fans to be at each others throats.Which
is just what the media want of course to keep selling their papers.

I do understand and share the frustration and I also sometimes question
whether the right decisions are being made.
What I don't understand is that If Arsene Wenger were to leave as some
fans are calling for, then who is next as manager ?I havn't seen a
tweet or a blog making any suggestion. To my mind he is just the fall
guy at the coal face facing all the flack for what has been the boards
financial decisions which he may or may not have agreed with.

The club is going through a transitional phase and I have every
confidence that we will come through it in time. It won't be a quick
fix in January it will take longer realistically maybe in 2 years time
the club will be back in contention again.
Until then as Arsenal supporters we need to stick together and show
that we have faith in the
club and a manager who has given good service and has not suddenly
become a bad
manager,he can only do what he can with the money he is given. We may
think that we know all there is to know about what goes on behind the
scenes but I can assure you we don't not by a long way.

So new badge and what is a Gooner!

If I had known how long it takes to design a logo/badge for the site I may never have started but it's done! I really hope you guys like it and any feedback is much appreciated.

So, after another day of twitter to and fro it came to me. What makes a Gooner? For me having family grow up in the shadow of Highbury, some of the GFS crew have been there. I got my first kit in 1970, along with a tracksuit in the blue and yellow away colours! My first game at Highbury and being with my dad and hearing the noise of the North Bank I was hooked. The ultimate was watching us at Wembley in 71, Charlie George is a true legend! The rest is part of our great history.

As for the people I have met being an Arsenal fans? I can only say that they have become true family, Chris, god rest you, you would be very proud as I know your Dad is. My new Gooner Sussex family who, through our love of Arsenal came together and taking them to West Ham and Scousers at the Emirates last season, to see their faces come alive, to know the passion is with others for my beloved club was worth it's wait in gold and our Sussex family is growing still. The starting of this blog and the people I have talked to on Twitter, I know it is all worth while meeting like minded people who just love their club!

So what makes a Gooner? A love of the team, a passion for support. It does not matter where they are. Can they afford to go to games? Not all are that lucky! Do they watch from which ever country they are in? Yes, they are part of the Arsenal family, a big family which must stick together to get through bad times. I know I have lived through lean times as a supporter, but never gave up. It does not matter that you are at every single game, it does not matter that you go to CL games. What does matter is your support for a club with an amazing history and long may that continue. If you cannot do that and just want trophies? Jog on coz the manc moneh would love to have you.

Sat in a pub with Friends

This blog is a bit different today, just in the fact I am sitting with friends, erm in a pub actually drinking beer as I write and discussing all things rugby, football, best Sunday roast and eating salted peanuts. The best, Surfergirl said to say eating nuts but we are not that kind of blog site!

Mrs Fabregas (me! I've taken over while the dog goes for a faaag!) I've just missed my bus to go meet my friend in Brighton, so am now here instead so I'm going to be even later.. I'm also finishing off the reminisce of my red wine, my cure to getting over the flu. ha! I know it probably won't work but it does in my mind :) He's bk so I'm going to run for the next one with fag in one hand and glass in the other...

At least she has got her Arsenal hoodie on and Surfergirl has had to lend her 55p for he bus, so sad!

I (Surfergirl, extraordinare!!) gave her a pound and she only gave change back to lighten the load of change in her VERY small short-shorts!!! Hee hee hee :o)

Anyway down to business, so anyone read all the twitter traffic last night? Are we Arsenal or are we a bunch of arguing idiots (see talksport for the article but I cannot be arsed to put on a link for such garbage) who cannot agree what should happen with our team our our future? Ladyarse has put on a survey today for the Arsene out crowd and last time I looked it was 57% in favour of him staying, but has it come to this? A twitter poll to argue with other Arsenal fans about our future? By the way I admire the work that Ladyarse does and if I can help with the banner printing only too happy too (see my blog yesterday) and Arseblog speaks alot of sense too. It seems to me that if a fan can get a name by setting up a cause to so call support Arsenal then all power to you. Just do it for the right reasons, take Arsenal forward and not to fall into the media Arsenal witch hunt that is so easy to fall into, after all, what do we Gooners want? Yes trophies, Yes success but also a stable and well supported team. I say wake up Emirates and lets make the place a fortress. That would do so much more than banners and protests. Guys come on Love your Arsenal..

All Gooners have a chance to make a difference every week. Home or away, cheer a team that you love and try and be the difference. It is so lacking at the moment!

So England are through, Rooney suspended. Worthington is out at Northern Ireland, Ireland could be through but I want to leave this blog with the thoughts of a true Scots fan for the Euro's.

2016 - fingers crossed!  Only joking - the eternal optimist in me says it's like the Paris march all over again - who will be our McFadden tomorrow night - step up Craig Mackail-Smith aka super-seagull-my-grannie's-a-jock-honestly!  Is it asking too much?  Perhaps, but stranger things have happened!

The Honoury Arsenal Fan here, just wanted to say as this will be my last chance before I bugger off to the land of Germans, that as much as I (occassionally) take the piss out of Arsenal and cheer on the opposing team, after the dissappointing West Ham season last year, Arsenal are now my favourite team in the Prem!!!! Did I say that? Dont tell Surfergirl....she may never let me go to Deutschland...Let it be known that I will always support Arsenal over any Kraut...(and not just the sour kind!) team....THAFH signing off.

You heard it here first and by the way. C'Mon Ayr! If you confused that's our Scottish honary Arsenal fan!!!

Tha tha thats all folks!!

Much love, The Dog, Mrs. Fabrgas, Surfergirl, Teach, and The Honoury Arsenal Fan James

Sunday musings, interlull and a fed up Gooner!

Well another Sunday comes around but this time there is no heartbreak or rapture at Arsenal's performance. Internationals have given us a rest from all that. However how did you feel Friday night after England's, errm how can I put this, typical crap performance and Rooney's petulance, once again make it a rough road to the Euro's. personally I do not give us a cat in Hell's chance of getting anywhere in it. Yet again we will be subjected to the media hype of Engerland!!!!! Only to find how they turn on everyone involved like rabid dogs and blaming everyone but themselves for the over hype and England fans will be left with the cost of spending money on all things England, beer, mugs banners, another bloody shirt change etc and that empty feeling the day after when our so called England stars come home, the only winners being the advertisers, UEFA and Ultimately the fat cats at FIFA. Am I moaning? Too bloody right. I have watched England go down the toilet since 1970 and am sick of the whole bloody thing, give me Arsenal every time.

I mean even the egg chasers have caught the England disease, drinking throwing dwarfs, shame they could not throw a ball as well as they chuck down alcohol and hobbits in NewZealand. So go the Welsh.

I thought today would be all things international in the papers today but no, low and behold the Mirror comes up trumps with yet another round of Arsenal bashing. First inside the back page, a gleeful headline and a photo of an Arsenal banner telling Wenger to go! So we have another protest group, this time we have ArsenalFCnotPLC. No banners shouting at the board or Silent Stan but thanking Arsene for he memories but it's time to say goodbye! The Arsenal fan who formed it, Chris Adnett, says we are on a downward spiral and it is time for him to go. Cue the paper to remind us we lost 8-2 to the mancs.....again! Yes we are at a low point but if Chris had taken time to read Gooner Dan and Gooner Bubble maybe he would have seen that has not always been plain sailing with Arsenal and there is no such thing as a god given right to be at the top just because we have been royally spoilt over the last fifteen years. What we need are our fans getting behind the team, sadly something lacking at the Emirates which I have seen time and time again by the "sit daarn group we now seem to have. Beside aren't the Black scarf group already doing this by asking for our Arsenal back? Yet another split dividing Gooners when we should be voicing as one to support the team. Yes Arsene needs help, I am not denying that but getting rid? Be careful what you wish guys because this has shades of Leeds Utd written all and it is down to our board to wake up and not letting our manager shoulder the entire blame of profit before all which the board seem to approve of..
If it's true what Joey Barton had to say, that the board have no idea of what is going on then that shows us Gooners what importance they place on running the club for trophy success when compared to profit in their pockets.

Finally they also ran an article today tout Pep Guardiola as a potential new manager with Arsene;s blessing?? As we know he is on a yearly rolling contract, where as Arsene's runs until 2014. He has never broken a contract and he is stubborn enough to see this one out to. Don't get me wrong, at the moment Arsene is not on my Christmas card list. He needs someone to question him and his methods and that is where he should have a strong number two. Pat Rice does want to retire so maybe it is now time for a legend to return, aka Adams, Berkamp or Viera?

Anyway that's my whinge over, time for my medicine and a nap and be strong Gooners, AFC for life.

Kings of Highbury... The Emirates!!!???‏

Who is the king of Ashburton Grove???

We don't really have one do we.... Let's face facts. R.V.P is as close to a king as we have but every king needs loyal followers willing to die for the cause... Do we have that right now?... Not quite.

In time Jackie Wilshere will be the King , the guvnor .. and get the respect a true leader deserves.. What makes Jack different to the recent leaders of Arsenal..?? ENGLISH .. A local boy with the best intentions of the club at heart. When Arsenal played Blackburn earlier in the season we had 11 different nationalities on the pitch.. How can that be good. It surely can't.

You may say Viera wasn't English and he was one of the best kings we ever had... But the difference with Pat was he was surrounded completely by Frenchman.. They generated unity and team spirit through this and became a rock, hard to pierce and breakdown.

Look at previous Kings.. Tony Adams.. with that English back 4 and Seaman .. Different class.. Keown in the face of the horse..
What a sight .. Made you so proud to be a gooner. The 70s with Charlie George early on a true king .. as they sang his name...
Charlie, Charlie,Charlie,Charlie born is the king of Highbury.. Fantastic. Frank Mcclintock and George Graham proper hard footballers..

But what we also must remember is we have been in the major doldrums before... In fact this is a small one compared to previous fucked up periods of our history.. We won the league in 1950 then.... mmmm 1971!!! and after that 1989.. and that was only just!

So in 40 years we won it once in 1971 .. of course the king that year sealed us the double with an extra time winner against the Mickeys at Wembley and fell on his back exhausted.. What a moment.. Charlie George we salute you!

So peeps please lets give Arsene the time he needs to mould another outfit.. support the club and the players and don't be to down..
All you young spoilt gooners with no idea of our average times in the past.. stop being brats and demanding instant success and booing the boys .. We all know we don't really have the funds to pay 200,000 a week and Wenger takes the full force of a vicious media hate bandwagon just cause he wont suck their cocks like that twitching wanker does. He breathes red and white and it hurts him more than anybody... Sure we need a new number two and Pat Rice is finis.. Pat or Dennis would be great..

Hopefully we have a slightly easier run coming up.. Lets watch Gervinho grow.. and hope Chamackh comes out the closet soon .. It will help him !! Lets climb that table and take Europe by storm ... Here's to hating the scum, Mancs and Mickeys!

Ooh to Ooh to be Ooh to be a Goooooner!!! Arsenal for life.

Message from the boss!!!!!

I haven't been an Arsenal fan very long, I've been following them since 2003.
I got bought up around Arsenal by my mother, who fell in love with them when she moved to England, and I just started to pay attention. It has only been in the last season that I've managed to have the privilege of going up to the emirates. My first game was West Ham at home, and I remember sitting there towards the end praying to the almighty for at least 1 goal on my first visit. And my prayers were answered on the 88th minute! It was amazing, and I walked away with a huge smile on my face. My next visit was to see Liverpool at home, yes we did draw and it wasn't the best of results but the one thing I remember is trying to sing along or just to start a chant going and an old man in front of us told us to be quiet! My Scottish friend an honorary Arsenal fan turned to him and said "how long have you been coming here?" to which he replied "most of my life" we were shocked to be told to basically sit down and shut up by an old fogy. We need more team spirit for our 11 men on the pitch, which we lack, I've been told it is better to go to an away game because the experience is so much better. So my aim this season is to at least see one away game, to sit with the real and true fans rather than the armchairs fans at home. Which is sad really, we should be real and true at home and away! Not something lacking in the North Bank at the Red Bulls game!

This season I should be going up to see Tottenham and Man Utd at home, I'm a bit more nervous about going up to see spuds but you've got to face the demons and dance to the music.

I've also got to give a shout out to all the Brighton Arsenal fans that I met over the weekend at the Woohoo bar in Brighton, when I first walked in I thought that everyone was a spuds fan so I sat outside with my smoking friends to watch it there. Once the second half had started and we scored I hear a lot of arsenal fans inside so I left my friends behind to go in a be with them. When I got in I got cheered cos I had my new season Arsenal shirt and that I was a girl so into football. For the rest of the game I sat and chatted with them and they seemed like a nice bunch of guys, which I will be be going back to, to watch further games with them.

So as a co-founder of Gunning From Sussex I'm going to make it our aim to unite all Brighton and Sussex Gooners to stand up and take pride in your team no matter what is going on in the papers and with where we are on the table!

Mrs Fabregas

The second coming......

The respect I have for Arsene Wenger is absolute. What that man has done for the club is nothing other than magnificent. But he is not above criticism.
That is what we learn from. We make mistakes, we learn from them. I don't understand why we keep slipping up in the same areas. This is obviously something he needs to address. He needs someone to show our team, so full of talent and promise, how things are done at The Arsenal.
Something Tim Stillman touched on in his latest arseblog entry is class. Its just as important as winning, as it is wining The Arsenal way.
Currently, Tony Adams, our greatest ever captain is lost in Azerbaijan. The captain of our greatest ever team, Patrick Viera, is director of wanking into a bucket or something at Citeh. And God himself is assistant manager at Ajax.
Imagine if we had those 3 (in the rightful place) at The Grove.
Would they stand for these mistakes? No they fucking wouldn't.
It is obvious to me that Dennis is our next manager. Give him a year at Ajax then stick him partnering Pat. A year of that then I have faith in Dennis to smash it apart.
But then I'm biased. My old man is Chelsea. My mum side are Fulham. Strange your might think for a west London boy brought up in sunny Croydon to support The Arsenal. But my dad wasn't on the ball and my godfather, when I was 4 years old took me to Highbury, bought me my first shirt, picked me up on his shoulders and pointed out a player warming up. He told me that's Dennis Bergkamp. I've been an Gooner since then. And I believe we can turn this around. With a little help from our old friends. The second coming will bring with it glory and beer and bragging rights again, because I'm fucking sick of taking stick from yidos, rangers and even west fucking brom fans.
So come on Arsene, swallow your pride and ask for some help from your old leaders, heroes and legends.
People forget this is Arsene 4th team, he's been he that long, let's get behind him and make a success of it.

Highbury Exchange Man Speaks!!!!!!

If you look at the last 5/10 years Wenger has had a number of chances to get into the International mix for France and each time he has turned them down. To be honest he likes to be too hands on with the squad and only getting them for a few weeks every 3 months doesn't appeal to him.
As much as winning the World Cup for your country is at the top of most footballers’ wish list, domestic leagues especially the Premiership have too much control on what the players can and can’t do. The domestic clubs enable them to have the baby Bentley lifestyle so their loyalties lie with the club which is something we are witnessing every time we have an international break.
So back to my point again, why would he take the hardest International Job in the world? Simple he won’t!
Mr. Wenger's only destination if he ever leaves Arsenal will be Spain…

The Man @ The Highbury Exchange!

Woo Hoo I’m no longer a Gunning From Sussex virgin!

You can't have him!!

The papers were reporting that Sven Goran Eriksson thinks Wenger would be a good England manager.  That Wenger lives for football and his family... I wonder if the actual job was presented to Wenger, how many of the Arsenal fans that are saying he should go, would change their minds?  The old saying 'you don't know what you got til it's gone' comes to mind.

For those of us who still believe in Wenger, and that he can turn our season around, I say 'YEA!!!'

He's been with us forever, our team drove his hair gray! Yet he still believes with his whole heart this team will be great again. As fans we need to believe that too, because that rubs off on the players. Once they feel we're behind them and believe in them, they will start believing it too!! Resulting in winning games!!!

So come on all you Wenger doubters, lets get behind our manager and our GUNNERS!!

and sorry England, he's here in the country, playing the beautiful game, but he's ours!! and you CAN'T have him!!!

Just a little rant that's been on my chest. We need to sort the home fans out. And probably my grammar

"When I stepped out into the grove last Wednesday to watching The Arsenal I was met with the usual sound....silence, nothing, nada.
Our beloved team is lacking right now, and we as fans need to get behind them. We need to be the 12th man...and the 13th and the 14th if we have to. It's not about arshavin being a short Russian cunt, or the footballer formally known as chamakh. It's about the badge on their chest which is what we care about.
I was ashamed standing in The Clock End when I stood up and shouted RED ARMY, to be met with sit daaaawn.
You look at our away support and it's the best in Europe. We silence stadiums full of die hard fans. But The Grove is a library.
If us fans can't show the players what it means to win in those glorious Red and White shirts, then how the fuck are they going to learn. By all means if there playing shit tell them. Get on your feet and tell them to look up find the pass and stop being a cunt. Don't just whinged into your pint after.

And above all remember......"

Old and new...

there is an old saying about "putting your head down and you'll get through it"... This can be applied to different aspects of life. As Arsenal fans I think we all know what I'm talking about.  Lately when people ask me what team I support and I reply 'Arsenal', they either sigh or say something like 'Good luck with that!'  Well, I say this is the time when true Arsenal fans show their colours!!

"We won't go quietly into the night.. We will not vanish without a fight!"

I think all of us who are true fans stand tall, although thoroughly frustrated as hell sometimes, and look to the future and next game.. With another injury (get well soon Sagna!) it's looking even harder, but fear not Arsenal fan at some point it will change. And hopefully we'll all be there, still flying the colours!!

I know I will...

Editor message;
So much has been written about Sunday that I feel I cannot add further. I am sickened by both sets of fans, being Arsenal I thought we were above that but Spurs fans have to take blame too but as with any media, it's easier to jump on a bandwagon rather than report fully. To the sick fan who posted those twisted tweets to Jack Wiltshere, you are beneath contempt and glad you crawled off to which ever hole you came from. So Gooners, lets show the world our pride and passion and thanks Sufergirl.

Always darkest part 2

Morning all, another glorious day another early morning on the beach with Charlie George, sadly a day of remembering my Dad too but he would be so excited for today. Yes it's Derby Day and most of the papers have written off Arsenal already before a kick in anger is taken.

Jimmy Greaves his morning has said Spurs now have a better team but he did go on to say they have never been a greater club. Even Harry himself has come out in defence of Arsene, saying that the games gone mad.! Actually although it hurts to say this we have to be thank full to them in a way. They helped us out in WW2 when Highbury had been damaged and we played home games at White Heart Lane. Some Gooners still believe that never happened but I do assure you it is true.

So we have out injured today 6 players, 3 of our defence and our kingpin in midfield, Jack. This compared to to Spurs 4 out which include Gallas, Dawson. We have RVP and looks like Walcott will be on the Wing with new contract boy Arshavin. Yes we have spent some more money so will it be a case of your score we score two more?

Our stats prove that we have been a better club since 1995 but stats say alot of things and it is what happens on the pitch today which is important not stats. So am I confident of a win? Honestly no, Am I hopeful of a win. Yes. We have the players to do it but lady luck may have to smile on us today too. I do hope Sky Bet to regret the advert their running about us throwing away the game today.

So fellow Gunners, it looks like a high scoring game, possible 3-3 again? RVP has scored 4 goals in his last 4 Premier League starts against Spurs. Lets have 4 more.

Enjoy guys and if it goes against us it will a case of "That long to beat our reserves"

It's always Darkest just before the dawn

Believe it or not but today is the 1st October, Christmas gifts are now in the shops along with winter wear, adverts talking about the nights drawing in and where have I been? On the beach with my dog Charlie George enjoying a typical summers day in Hove. Yes the world has truly gone mad, but it was hot and gorgeous so sorry for the late blog.

The title of today's blog says it all for me. Will tomorrow be our darkest hour or will it herald a new dawn? Lets look at our recent form against the old enemy.

21/04/2011 Spurs 3-3 Arsenal
20/11/10 Arsenal 2-3 Spurs
20/09/10 Spurs 1-4 Arsenal (league cup)

In fact we have to go back to 31/10/09 to see a comprehensive win in the premier league. Arsenal finished 3-0 winners at home so you could say they have the upper hand in being at home and playing a much depleted Arsenal side. With Song looking to be in the defence alongside the BFG, it will be Gibbs and Sagna to try and keep Ady and Modric and Bail at bay. Frimpong will get his chance but am hoping to see the Ox back out to show Spurs what we have in Talent. RVP make it 103 up front I think there will be goals, very tight but will put us down to scrape a 2-3 win.

I am avoiding my usual watering hole tomorrow to have a spot of lunch with season ticket holder and chef, Ray Winston and watch the match. I will go into his name reasons in another blog but he is a top top Gooner.
So I wish your team the very best as I wish mine and enjoy tomorrow. All Gooners will be in fine voice even if it is at the hole of shite.

Finally it is two years to the day since my Dad passed and because of him I am a Gooner and still miss him very much. As he would say, "Spurs? Would not waste my piss on em" Big on Words my Dad.

Have a great day all and as ever.....
